Organizational Consulting & Leadership Development

Not to overstate the obvious but we’re going to: leadership starts at the top. From the CEO, Department Heads, Team Managers, Project Managers; ALL set the example for the culture, expectations, accountability and conduct… in short: ‘what and how we do things here’.

Using FIG's proprietary curriculum we not only address the skills that drive professional effectiveness and bottom lines, but also help identify and actuate a set of frameworks, tools, ideology and guided conversations designed to develop the interpersonal and professional competencies that formal education doesn't teach and most organizations don't address, until something goes wrong.

This is not a training program in the conventional sense. FIG's curriculum is tailored to each unique individual and/or team dynamic informed by key focus areas such as: Intent and impact, clarity in communication, giving and receiving feedback, healthy conflict resolution, expectations and accountability. Words we all throw around a lot but, in practice, can be challenging without guidance.

Each module can be delivered as part of a comprehensive engagement or targeted to a specific challenge. All of it is customized using FIG’s proprietary curriculum to the individual or team receiving it.

THE KEY PILLARS OF FIG’S curriculum

Values of effective leadership: who you are, how you show up, how you are perceived, how you want to be received and how you behave are fundamental to any leader.

Setting Intention

The cornerstone of all things FIG. Thinking about and knowing what you want where you want to go and figuring out how you're going to get there: for yourself, your team and the greater good of the organization is a foundational principle in leadership and indeed life. If you are able to consciously identify what you want, think through what steps you need to take to get you there, you’re wildly ahead of the game. Sounds simple… and simple is HARD!

Curiosity and Communications

Human beings are curious by nature. But how many times have you had a question but were afraid to ask it? The internet gives us instant answers but asking the internet can't help with the courage required to ask a question ’stupid’ or otherwise (no such thing!) or show vulnerability in not being able to ‘figure it out for yourself’. Being comfortable asking a human, peer, or colleague can spark a conversation, a connection, a relationship, but not if you don’t have the words and can’t think on the fly- which is scary to a lot of people!!. Most business happens because of human-to-human relationships. Full Stop. Practicing curiosity and communication skills affords professionals nuances, insights, and perspectives they might never have thought to ask about yet fear of looking foolish, or social avoidance, can become real barriers. That's where FIG can help.

Boundaries

Boundaries are seldom given a thought, until they’re crossed. However, they are an imperative for any healthy relationship, personal or professional. Our clients learn and examine the benefits of robust professional boundaries, what their boundaries are, how they create those boundaries, how empowering those boundaries can be, how to maintain them and how to work within them.

Digital Humanism

Communication in business is irrefutable. How to initiate, develop, sustain and nurture professional and personal relationships are critical, and technology has become an equally essential tool. Clients will explore how technology has reshaped their relationships and how to strike the right balance between digital convenience and genuine human connection. Modern business environments have unintentionally reinforced avoidance, email, messaging platforms, and AI has quietly eroded the interpersonal skills that come with real interaction.

SELF WORTH

Ever heard of ‘imposter’s syndrome’? Yeah, us too. It’s a real thing folks, and every single professional experiences it at some point (and sometimes daily!). Self-worth is often the culprit. Self-worth is the intrinsic, unwavering belief that you are valuable and bring a wealth of experience and institutional knowledge to your employment as a human being, entirely independent of your external achievements, wealth, or the opinions of others. It is foundational for empowering us to share out knowledge, continue to evolve as professionals, set boundaries, handle criticism, form balanced relationships. Learning how to see ourselves objectively; the good, the bad and the ugly is an invaluable awareness skill. Having the courage to see ourselves objectively is a powerful motivator: knowing our strengths and areas we want to improve provides for a confidence in the knowledge, and knowledge is powerful.

ALLIANCE FORMATION

Has anyone you know professionally actually taught you how to network well, or what that even means? Why is it important? How does it benefit your organization or you as a professional? Why is it so hard for most people? Networking is a mandatory skill for any professional, FIG demystifies the intention behind networking, offers tools to make it less intimidating and (dare we say, fun?) and works with our clients to develop interpersonal skills for our (mostly) all-digital world.

Teasing Fact From Emotion

Have you ever received constructive criticism and taken it personally? Or been on the other side; Trying to help someone grow, evolve and develop professionally, only to have feedback land as an attack? This is common in professional spaces, and it gets in the way. This is common and can interfere with the ways employees evolve, team morale, and efficiency. FIG has proven that you can say anything to anyone (seriously) if you pause and consider four things: the Words you choose, the Tone you set, the Timing of the conversation, and the Intention behind it. Master these, and giving and receiving feedback becomes a catalyst for better communication across the board.
