February 2020 - FIG Book Club Recommended Reading

Welcome to the FIG Book Club!

Welcome to Future Image Group’s Book Club! Every month, we’ll recommend a book, abstract, or research paper related to personal and professional development in the workplace (which, in turn, is also related to the development of social skills and more meaningful personal relationships).  We hope you enjoy – and we’d love to hear your recommendations for books that have helped you or given you some insight on your own journey of professional or personal social development.

The Question Behind The Question by John G. Miller

Our recommended reading for February 2020  is a book called The Question Behind The Question  by John G. Miller.

This book is a deep dive into one of FIG’s core tenants - curiosity. The book teaches you how to be curious about a problem, instead of judgemental, and it encourages you to take a new look at any issues you come across. Instead of blaming someone or something else for a problem, Miller wants us to ask, “What can I do to solve this?”

In the book, Miller uses moving real-world examples to help the reader change their frame of thinking about challenges, both professional and personal. Through a binding narrative, he helps the reader see the futility in asking the wrong questions - and helps them understand the method behind asking the right ones.
